On Friday, August 23, the Hyatt Centric Santa Clara Silicon Valley became the stage for innovation and opportunity as it hosted the Femigrants Networking & Wine Reception. Aytakin Aliyeva, the Forbes-featured community builder and founder of the Femigrants Foundation, masterfully demonstrated how the art of fostering connections. The spirit of sisterhood was palpable, highlighted by the celebration of Lital Cohen’s recent job offer, for which Aytakin had provided a recommendation. The heart of the evening was dedicated to startup pitches, providing immigrant founders with a prime opportunity to present their ideas to a receptive audience of potential investors and future customers.
Heritage Bank SVP and Femigrants Board Member Kanika Sabharwal set the tone for the evening with her opening speech. She shared her personal experience of missing home as an immigrant, creating an atmosphere of trust and openness.

Three promising startups took to the stage to pitch their innovative ideas:

1. Anya Belova of O’Legit presented their solution for “digital signatures” on branded goods, seeking partners to pilot their prototype.
2. Ebru Engwall, founding CTO of Nomikai, showcased their integrated platform for customer acquisition. As part of the Carnegie Mellon University Venture Bridge Program and having received initial angel funding, Nomikai represented a more advanced stage in the startup journey and fundraising process.  
3. Elena Chausova debuted WellNourished, a personalized diet app accounting for women’s hormone and stress levels, inspired by her own post-partum weight loss journey.
These pitches not only showcased the diverse talents within the Femigrants community but also demonstrated how the event provides a platform for women to step out of their comfort zones and grow professionally.
Said Elena at the end of the evening, “I think it’s really great to connect with these people. [To] talk about different ideas and receive advice… I recommend it to everyone.”
